Wilson Correia , pianist from Madeira who began his musical studies at the Conservatory - School of Arts Eng.º Luíz Peter Clode (CEPAM), entered the Escola Superior de Música e Artes e Espetáculo (ESMAE) in 2010 , in Porto, having completed, in 2014, his degree in jazz piano.

Currently alternating between Porto, where he frequently works with Bruno Tagliasachi Trio,

with o Gio Yañez & Zero Point Energy (with which he has recorded two albums) and with Open

Trio, in addition to leading his own quarteto, and Funchal, where he performs regularly

as a member of the Caio Oliveira Quarteto, Wilson Correia has performed in several northern cities, such as Porto and Guimarães, as well as in other European countries, such as Spain and Italy.

In recent times, he has been dedicating special attention to the area of composition, particularly for the piano, double bass and drums trio format, being exactly the product of this work that the pianist proposes to offer us in presentation night of the Funchal Jazz Festival 2016, in front of his new trio, which includes  Higino Andrade (Madeira musician residing in Porto, licensed, also

by ESMAE, in jazz double bass) e Caio Oliveira , the name most similar to jazz drums on the island

da Madeira.  Wilson Correia promises an intense concert marked by contraste between a

more swinging approach e enraizada in tradition and a fresher and more contemporary aesthetic.
