With a series of very special guests, Terence Blanchard will present his brand new project A/B Squared, a tribute to Art Blakey, one of the greatest drummers and leaders in the entire history of jazz, whose Jazz Messengers the trumpeter was music director for much of the 1980s.
Terence Blanchard is a heavyweight champion of the music, active for four decades, both as a jazzman and as a yet won composer - he recently won one more_cc781905-5cde-3194 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_Grammy® and was finally nominated for an Oscar®_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_for the music that he wrote for “Blackkklansman” (a Spike Lee film). Filled with some very special guests, such as drummer Jeff 'Tain' Watts, Saxophonist Jea Toussaint, pianist Gerald Clayton, or the much younger star bassist Tabari Lake, Blanchard's new project – A/B Squared– is a tribute to Art Blakey, one of the greatest drummers and leaders in the whole history of jazz, in whose Jazz Messengers Blanchard served as musical director thoughout most of 1980s.
