The closing concert of the festival will be in charge of a trio that has been together since 2000 and is an unavoidable reference in 21st century jazz. The relevance of Jason Moran is such that Scott DeVeaux and Gary Giddins lhe dedicam por completo o último capítulo do livro "Jazz",  um dos grandes manuais de History of Jazz.  Moran and his Bandwagon draw on almost the entire jazz tradition to make a jazz of today, in which hip-hop and drum & bass emerge as naturally as Billie Holiday, Fats Waller or Duke Ellington. Moran is master of a music in which everything seems to make sense, in which any ingredient, however unexpected, is always very welcome and invariably very well used. A project that closes Funchal Jazz on a very high note and well illustrative of the continuous vitality of jazz today.

This edition of Funchal Jazz Festival closes with a very special trio, an unavoidable example of what 21st century jazz can ok Jason Moran's relevance is such that Scott DeVeaux e Gary Giddins chose him as the single theme for the closing chapter of "Jazz", one of the most important reference books on Jazz History. Jason Moran builds his music but the whole jazz tradition result is always jazz of today and now, on which hip-hop or bass & drum dive in seamlessly and cross its way with Billie Holiday, Fats Waller or Duke Ellington. Everything seems_cc781905-5cde-3194- bb3b-136bad5cf58d_to make complete sense in Moran's music, even when you wouldn't expect it...
